Skoda Slavia, the mid-size sedan from the Czech automaker, has finally made its global debut in its production avatar. The model will come as a replacement to the Rapid sedan, and it’s scheduled to launch in early 2022. Official bookings for the Slavia have been commenced across the nation. Skoda Slavia Engine Options
The new Skoda sedan will be made available with two TSI turbocharged petrol engines. The first one is the 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI motor that pushes out a peak power of 115bhp and 178Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The sedan will also be available with a 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine generating a top power of 148bhp and250Nm of torque. The bigger capacity motor will come with the 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox options.
Skoda Slavia Features
Interior layout of the Slavia is similar to the Octavia. Some of its switchgears and trims seem borrowed from the Kushaq including the knurled buttons, touch-based climate control and two-spoke steering wheel. It has a dashboard integrated 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. Just below the info unit, there is AC vents. One must note that the entry-level Active trim will come with the 7-inch touchscreen info unit. For the safety provision, the new Slavia sedan has 6 airbags, a rear parking camera, Isofix child seat mounts, hill hold control (optional), an electronic differential system (EDS), multi collision brake and a tyre pressure monitor. The new Skoda sedan sits on the segment-leading wheelbase and ensures ample legroom.
Skoda Slavia Exterior
Upfront, the upcoming Skoda sedan features the brand’s signature butterfly grille along with the sleek headlamps with L-shaped DRLs and fog lamps with inverted L-shaped motif. While the sloping roofline merging into the boot lid, the bold character lines running along the shoulder to taillamps. The side profile is further adorned by 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels (for top-end trim only) and chrome trim around the window line. At the back, the sedan gets C-shaped LED taillamps and bumper with chrome strip.
New Slavia Dimensions
The overall length, width and height of the new Skoda sedan stand at 4541mm, 1752mm and 1487mm respectively. It has a wheelbase of 2651mm, which longest in its segment. Compared to its replacement, the Slavia is 128mm longer, 53mm wider and 20mm taller.
Slavia Colour Options
The automaker has confirmed that its new mid-size sedan will be offered in five colour schemes – Candy White, Tornado Red, Carbon Steel, Reflex Silver and Crystal Blue.
Skoda Slavia Price Expectations
As mentioned above, the new Skoda sedan will hit showrooms early next year (possibly in February or March). It will be positioned against the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Honda City and the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus. Its prices are estimated to start around Rs 10 lakh for the entry-level variant and go up to Rs 16 lakh for the fully-loaded model.
