According to a recent media report, Volkswagen India is preparing to introduce its popular Virtus sedan in a matte grey color option. This model will be called the Volkswagen Virtus Carbon Steel Grey Matte Edition and is expected to be available for purchase before the festive season. It’s worth noting that this same paint scheme was previously introduced with the Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Limited Edition in April 2023. As part of the GT Edge Limited Collection, both the Virtus and Taigun received the Deep Black Pearl color option as well.
The matte grey treatment for the Virtus is likely to resemble the Taigun Carbon Steel Grey Matte Edition. It may feature red accents on the front and rear bumpers, as well as along the lower section of the side profile. Additionally, the front red disc brake calipers are expected to contribute to its sporty appearance. Inside the cabin, the Volkswagen Virtus Carbon Steel Grey Matte Edition may feature leatherette seat upholstery with red stitching, complemented by red inserts on the dashboard.
Powering the new Volkswagen Virtus matte grey edition is likely to be the 1.5L TSI turbo petrol engine, delivering 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque. The engine will be available with two gearbox options: a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic.
In addition to the Virtus news, Volkswagen is planning to import the Tayron SUV as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit sometime in 2025. It could be equipped with the 2.0L turbo petrol engine enhanced with 48V mild hybrid technology and paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. Based on the upgraded MAB platform, the new Volkswagen Tayron SUV might be offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations.
Looking ahead, the German automaker has outlined its strategy to introduce three electric SUVs as part of its updated ID model lineup. The Volkswagen Taigun EV is slated to be the first product to launch in 2025, followed by a small SUV in 2026 and the Trinity EV in 2028.
