Volkswagen Taigun mid-size SUV will soon hit the Indian roads. The carmaker has released the first teaser video revealing its production-ready front design. The SUV features a dual-slat chrome grille flanked by dual-lens projector headlamps and horizontal LED DRLs. Moving towards the sides, the new Volkswagen SUV will have 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, bold creases, silver roof rails and a shark fin antenna. The LED taillamp cluster will run across the width of the tailgate. Its rear bumper will get chrome accent.
The latest teaser video also reveals that the Taigun will come with the engine start/stop button, placed on the centre console. A 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system will serve the connectivity purposes. The unit, which is integrated into the dashboard, will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and the My Volkswagen connect app.
The new Volkswagen SUV will also offer a wireless charging pad, automatic climate control, USB Type-C ports, a fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a sunroof and more. The safety kit will include 6 airbags, tyre pressure deflation warning, electronic stability control (standard), Isofix child seat mounts and more.
Volkswagen Taigun will be the smallest SUV from the German carmaker in India. It has been designed on MQB AO IN platform that also underpins the upcoming Skoda Kushaq. It will be brand’s second SUV under India VW Group’s 2.0 project.
Under the hood, the new Volkswagen Taigun will feature a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TSI turbo petrol motor. While the former makes power worth 115hp and 175Nm of torque, and the latter is good enough for 150hp and 250Nm. Both engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox (standard), a 6-speed torque converter (1.0L petrol only) and a 7-speed DCT automatic (1.5L petrol only).
