Volkswagen Taigun Launch & Deliveries To Begin In September, 2021

The long-awaited Volkswagen Taigun is reportedly to be launched in the Indian market in September 2021. The report claims that the launch will happen in the 3rd week of September, and customer deliveries will also commence at the same time. Media drives for the VW Taigun is scheduled in the first week of August, while the bookings will commence in mid-August 2021.

The report also claims that the mass production of the VW Taigun will commence in August at its Pune manufacturing plant. Volkswagen will aim to gain benefit of the upcoming festive season, Diwali. We reported earlier that the Volkswagen Taigun will also mark the debut of brand’s new logo in the market.

To enhance customers’ experience, Volkswagen India has started revamping its dealerships by increasing digitalization and connectivity. The Taigun will be the most important model for the Volkswagen in India. This will start the begining of Volkswagen’s new product strategy, which will also include a new mid-sized sedan in the near future.

The upcoming Volkswagen Taigun will be based on the MQB AO IN platform, which is heavily localised and designed for the Indian market. This platform also underpins the new Skoda Kushaq. VW Group has claimed to achieve over 95% localisation levels with the new Taigun. A VW dealer claims that the new Taigun will be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 17 lakh. At this price point, the mid-sized SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos the upcoming MG Astor.

Volkswagen Taigun Interior

The new Taigun will be offered with two engine options – a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol. While the former is good for 113bhp of power and 175Nm of torque, the 1.5L engine produces 147bhp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual as standard, a 6AT with 1.0L petrol, and a 7-speed DSG with 1.5L petrol.
