Tata Motors has officially announced to introduce 10 electric vehicles in the Indian market by 2025. The company’s Nexon EV is currently India’s best-selling electric car, as it is currently doing over 500 units sales per month. In order to further strengthen its position, Tata Motors is now gearing up to launch the Altroz Electric in the Indian market.
The upcoming Tata Altroz electric will be equipped with Tata’s Ziptron electric powertrain. A new media report claims that the new EV could receive an additional battery pack option. The new larger battery pack is expected to increase the range by 25-40%. It is reported that the Altroz electric could offer a range of around 500 km, which is significantly higher than the regular model.
The report further claims that the same battery option will be offered in the Nexon EV as well. The compact SUV is available with a 30.2 kWh battery pack that offers a 127bhp electric motor. The Nexon electric currently offers an ARAI certified range of 312km.
The Tata Altroz Electric is likely to come with new ZConnec app, which we have already seen in the Nexon EV. The application offers 35 connected car features including dedicated EV features such as charging history, remote monitoring of the current battery charge levels, range, nearest charging stations, charge levels and more.
Tata Motors would be aiming to price the Altroz Electric around Rs 10 lakh, making it one of the most affordable EVs in India. The exact launch timeline is yet to be announced, but the electric hatch could hit roads before the end of this year.
