Volkswagen Taigun Could Offer Advanced Driver Assistance Features

German automaker, Volkswagen is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited Taigun mid-sized SUV. The new Volkswagen Taigun will be positioned against the likes of the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta. It will be the second model to be based Volkswagen Group’s MQB AO IN platform, which also underpins the soon-to-be-launched Skoda Kushaq.

In order to compete well against the rivals, Volkswagen is aiming to give Taigun several segment-first features. It is expected that the new Volkswagen Taigun could be equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Features). This will make the Taigun first model in its category to offer this feature.

The ADAS system is likely to offer features such as a lane assist system, adaptive cruise control, park pilot, park assist, blind spot detection, emergency braking system and others. The park assist function helps in automatically steering the vehicle during parallel parking, while the Park Pilot function will help drive the vehicle through tight parking spot using various sensors.

Controls for these functions are mounted on the steering wheel, while the indicators will be offered on the digital instrument console. The new Volkswagen Taigun is equipped with several high-end safety and security features such as six airbags, ESP, traction control, hill hold and descent control, and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System).

In terms of features, the VW Taigun gets a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a touch-sensitive climate control, wireless phone charging pad, Type-C USB, connected car features, a single-pan electric sunroof, automatic C, ventilated front seats, 17-inch alloys, LED lighting system etc.

It has a wheelbase of 2,651mm, which is longer than the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos – 2,610mm. The SUV will come with two petrol engine options – a 114bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol with 6MT & 6AT, and a 147bhp, 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged with 6MT and 7-speed DSG automatic.
