Vespa Racing Sixties Special Edition India Launch Price is Rs 1.20 Lakh

Italian two-wheeler maker, Piaggio has launched a new special edition of the Vespa – the Racing Sixties. The new special edition is based on the SXL 125 and SXL 150 – priced at Rs 1.20 lakh and Rs 1.32 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. The regular SXL125 and SXL150 are priced at Rs 1.14 lakh and Rs 1.27 lakh respectively. Prices are ex-showroom, Pune.

Vespa had unveiled the Racing Sixties special edition at the 2020 Auto Expo. While the platform and engine specs are shared with the SXL 125 and 150, the Vespa Racing Sixties come with some design changes. The changes are inspired from racing liveries from the 1960s.

While the scooters share their internals with the SXL 125 and 150, the Racing Sixties versions get cosmetic changes that, as the name suggests, are inspired from racing liveries from the 1960s. The scooter comes with a red and white livery. The black colour seat gets white stitching, while the headlight bezel, mirrors and exhaust shield is finished in matte black. The Vespa Racing Sixties are equipped with gold coloured alloys, LED headlamp, USB mobile charging port and illuminated storage compartment. Powering the Racing Sixties scooter based on the SXL125 is a 125cc engine that produces 9.8bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 9.6Nm at 5,500rpm.

The SXL 150 based special edition is powered by a 150cc single-cylinder engine that churns out 10.3bhp at 7,600rpm and a peak torque of 10.6Nm at 5,500rpm. The new engines are compliant with BSVI emission norms. For braking duties, the special edition gets a 200mm disc at the front and a 140mm drum at the rear. The ABS system is offered with the 150cc version, while the 125cc model gets CBS (Combi-Braking System).
