India’s top-selling sub-4 meter SUVs – Brezza, Venue, Nexon and XUV300 – are ready to receive updates this year. While the Brezza and Nexon will enter into their new generations, the Venue and XUV300 will get their first mid-life updates. Here’re launch and key details of these four upcoming models.
2022 Maruti Brezza
The second-generation Maruti Brezza is reported to arrive by April 2022. The model will receive comprehensive changes inside and out along with the stronger hybrid system and a new 6-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV will use the same 104bhp, 1.5L K15B petrol engine with 48V hybrid tech that will make it more fuel efficient. This time around, it could also be offered with the CNG powertrain option. Rumour has it that the new Brezza will be high on safety with features such as 6 airbags and ESP (electronic stability program).
2022 Hyundai Venue
The 2022 Hyundai Venue facelift might hit showrooms by June or July. Design and styling of the updated model will be inspired by the new Tucson SUV. The model will carry Hyundai’s new design language and feature a parametric front grille and rectangular shaped headlamps positioned lower on the front bumper. The SUV could be offered with the updated infotainment system, new BlueLink connected car tech and new colour schemes. Its engine-gearbox combinations will remain intact. With the mid-life update, the automaker might also introduce the Hyundai Venue N-Line version.
2022 Mahindra XUV300
Mahindra & Mahindra is reported to introduce the XUV300 facelift towards the end of this year. The model is likely to receive significant mechanical and feature upgrades along with a few cosmetic changes. Reports suggest that the 2022 Mahindra XUV300 facelift will a more powerful 1.2L T-GDI petrol engine making 130bhp and 230Nm. The existing 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L CRDi diesel engines will continue to be on offer. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be carried forward from the pre-facelift.
2023 Tata Nexon
Tata’s top-selling Nexon subcompact SUV is likely to witness a generation change sometime next year. As of now, details of the new model are scanty. Though, it’s expected to come with improved styling, more up-market interior and more refined engines. The existing 1.2L turbo petrol and 2.5L turbo diesel motors might get a mild hybrid technology to meet the upcoming CAFÉ and updated BSVI emission standards. The 2023 Tata Nexon will also switch to the new Alfa platform instead of the existing ones.
