With an aim to strengthen its SUV market, Maruti Suzuki has planned several new models that will arrive in the next couple of years. While the company has already introduced the second-generation Brezza with comprehensive changes, it’s all set to enter into the mid-size SUV segment with the Grand Vitara. The Maruti Grand Vitara will be Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos’ rival that’s reported to hit roads in the month of August.
The Indo-Japanese automaker is also working on a new compact SUV coupe that will sit above the new Brezza in the company’s product lineup. Codenamed Maruti YTB, the new compact SUV is expected to be designed on Suzuki’s Heartect platform and share most of its design elements with the Futuro-e concept. The SUV coupe concept was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
Some of its components and styling bits could be borrowed from the new Baleno and Brezza. Being a premium product, the new Maruti compact SUV coupe will be sold via Nexa dealership chain. It would be quite early to comment on its engine. Though, it’s likely to be offered with Maruti’s 1.5L petrol engine only.
Similar to the upcoming Maruti Grand Vitara, the new Maruti YTB SUV could be made available with mild and strong hybrid powertrain. The automaker might also introduce its with electric powertrain. The new Maruti compact SUV coupe is expected to be packed with lots of advanced features such as connected car tech, wireless phone charging and more.
If reports are to be believed, the new Maruti YTB SUV Coupe might enter into production in March 2023 at Suzuki Motor Gujarat plant. Its market launch might happen in April 2023. Here, it will serve a niche segment and won’t have any direct rival.
