Maruti Suzuki is all set to expand its SUV product portfolio with the launch of all-new Fornx crossover and Jimny 5-door off-road SUV. Both models recently made their first public appearance at the Delhi Auto Expo 2023. While the Maruti Fronx received over 2,500 bookings, the Maruti Jimny gathered over 9,000 pre-orders in just 10 days. Here’re variant, feature and engine details of the upcoming new Maruti SUVs.
Maruti Fronx
Based on the Heartect monocoque platform, the new Maruti crossover will come in five trims – Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta and Alpha. The model lineup will be made available with two petrol engine options – a 1.0L Boosterjet and a 1.2L K-series naturally aspirated unit. The Boosterjet motor delivers a claimed power of 100bhp and 147.6Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic (with paddle shifters) gearbox. The 1.2L gasoline unit pushes out a maximum power of 90bhp and 113Nm of torque. Some of its key features include a 7.0-inch touchscreen SmartPlay Pro infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, 4-speaker sound system, keyless entry and go, hill hold assist, reverse parking sensors, electronic stability program, etc. The Maruti Fronx will go on sale in the month of February. Maruti Jimny
The all-new Maruti Jimny is surely the much-awaited new car launches of this year. Its prices are likely to be announced in May 2023. The Jimny is a sub-4 metre SUV, powered by a 104bhp, 1.5L K15B petrol engine. It gets AllGrip Pro 4X4 drivetrain system with low-range transfer gear as standard. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. The carmaker will introduce it as a lifestyle off-road SUV that will come in two trims – Zeta and Alpha – and seven colour options (including two dual-tone shades). In terms of features, the Maruti Jimny offers a 9.0-inch touchscreen SmarPlay Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, 6 airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, rear view camera and hill descent control.
