Groupe PSA will start rolling out the locally manufactured product in the Indian market from the second half of 2021. The company is readying a new sub-4 meter SUV, codenamed Citroen CC21, which is expected to be introduced in Q3, 2021. The new model is rumoured to be unveiled in May; however, Citroen is yet to make an official announcement on the same.
The new Citroen CC21 will be locally developed at CK Birla’s production plant in Tamil Nadu. It will be based on the highly localised Common Modular Platform (CMP), which is developed for emerging markets like India and Brazil. The sub-4 meter SUV has been spotted several times in India and in Brazil. A latest set of spy images have hit the web world, which reveals new design details. The spotted model was heavily camouflaged; however, it reveals the possible design direction. The vehicle seems inspired by the European-spec Citroen C3 Aircross, which has also been spotted testing in India.
The Citroen CC21 small SUV features the brand’s new design philosophy, featuring a bold front fascia with a high bonnet line and big front bumper. It is visible that the small SUV gets split lighting setup with slim LED DRLs on top and dual-beam LED projector headlamps. It comes with mesh pattern for the radiator grille. The central air-intake with mesh treatment is placed in the lower bumper. The small SUV gets sloping roof with compact size, and a crossover-ish rear profile.
Previous interior spy images reveal that the Citroen CC21 small SUV will come with all-black scheme. The dashboard will be dominated by a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, which will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The small SUV will receive multi-functional steering wheel, automatic AC, powered ORVMs, wireless charging, etc.
The Citroen CC21 could be India’s first to feature Flexi-fuel system. It is likely to be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a Flexi-fuel system. It could run on both petrol as well as ethanol blends. This engine is expected to produce around 118bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and an automatic.
The new sub-4 meter SUV is expected to be priced around Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. It will rival the likes of the Tata HBX, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite and the Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
