Citroen To Launch i20, Viatara Brezza Rivals In India – Rumour

PSA Groupe recently started its Indian operations with the launch of the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV. Priced at Rs 29.90 lakh ex-showroom (for the base model), the C5 Aircross is the flagship model of the French carmaker in the country. While the premium SUV is being imported via CKD route, the upcoming Citroen models will be produced with over 90% locally sourced components and export platforms from India. Under its C-Cube strategy, the company is reported to bring in a new hatchback and crossover/compact SUV.

Codenamed CC21, the new Citroen hatchback will be put up against the cars like Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The upcoming Citroen compact SUV will be based on the hatchback, codenamed CC21X, and it will lock horns against the Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Ford EcoSport. Both models are likely to be designed on Citroen’s CMP (common modular platform) architecture. The same platform underpins several Citroen, Peugeot, Opel, Vauxhall and DS cars.

The report further states that the new Citroen hatchback and compact SUV will feature the largest touchscreen infotainment system in their segments. Similar to the C5 Aircross, the upcoming Citroen models are likely to be packed with several comfort goodies. It would be quite early to comment on their interior. Though, we expect them to come with premium sound system, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, steering mounted controls, rear AC vents, air purifier, leather seat upholstery, wireless charging, connected car features, multiple airbags, ABS, EBD, Isofix child seat anchorage points and many more. Under the hood, the upcoming Citroen models are likely to feature a 118bhp. 1.2L turbocharged petrol motor with both manual and automatic gearbox options. The compact SUV is reported to come with a 1.2L gasoline unit with ethanol blends starting from 27% to entirely on the biofuel.
