Two Toyota Cars Based On Existing Maruti Cars To Launch Soon In India

After introducing the Urban Cruiser and the Glanza, Toyota is now ready to launch two more cars based on Maruti Suzuki existing products. While the Urban Cruiser is a re-badged Brezza, the Glanza is a re-badged Baleno hatchback. The Japanese automaker has recently released a new Rumion MPV in South Africa. It is basically the re-badged Maruti Ertiga.

Besides Rumion, Toyota is also readying a new mid-sized sedan, called the Belta. It will be the re-badged version of the Ciaz sedan. Both these models are likely to be launched in our market in the next 6 months.

The new Toyota Rumion MPV has received some changes to differentiate itself from the Maruti Ertiga. The MPV has received few cosmetic changes. It gets a different grille with a Toyota badge. Inside the cabin, the new Rumion gets black interiors with wooden trim.

The new Rumion won’t receive any mechanical changes. It is capable of producing 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that also powers the Ertiga MPV. This engine is capable of producing 105bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. The MPV is offered in 5 colour options – Mystic Pearl White, Azure Blue, Seal Grey Metallic, Autumn Blaze Red and Shadow Black Pearl.

Maruti Suzuki has started producing the new Toyota Belta sedan, which is basically the re-badged version of the Ciaz. The company will initially export the sedan to select international markets; however, the sedan will also be launched in India in the next few months. This model comes as a part of Suzuki-Toyota partnership.

The Toyota Belta mid-sized sedan will be positioned against the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid and the Volkswagen Vento. It will replace the Yaris sedan, which was discontinued earlier this year. The Toyota Belta will be powered by the same 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 104bhp of maximum power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
