Toyota Rumion 7-Seater MPV Based On Ertiga Revealed

We reported earlier that Toyota is preparing the re-badged versions of the Ciaz and the Ertiga, which will be first produced for export markets. The company has revealed the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga based MPV in South Africa. Called the Toyota Rumion, the new MPV looks identical to the Ertiga on sale in India.

The new Toyota Rumion MPV has received some changes to differentiate itself from the Maruti Ertiga. The Rumion joins the other re-badged Toyota cars including the Glanza/Startlet and the Urban Cruiser based on the Baleno and the Brezza respectively. Adding to it, the company is set to introduce the Belta sedan based on the Ciaz in South Africa.

Toyota Rumion MPV specs

The Toyota Rumion is basically the re-badged version of the existing Ertiga, which was introduced in 2018. The India-spec model will soon receive a mid-life facelift. It is likely to be launched in our market in early 2022. The MPV has received few cosmetic changes. It gets a different grille with a Toyota badge. Inside the cabin, the new Rumion gets black interiors with wooden trim.

The new Rumion won’t receive any mechanical changes. It is capable of producing 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that also powers the Ertiga MPV. This engine is capable of producing 105bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
