With rising fuel prices, it is clear that India buyers will look at alternate fuel options such as CNG and Electric. Both options have been growing, as automakers are looking to introduce multiple new products using CNG and Electric powertrain. We believe that the two-wheeler segment will receive big changes, as electric bikes and scooters are gaining traction in the market.
Brands like Bajaj, Ather, Hero and TVS Motor Company have already announce massive investments. Adding to it, OLA electric and Simple Energy will also make huge investments in the electric space. Both brands have opted August 15, 2021 – the Independence Day to reveal their electric two-wheelers.
OLA electric
OLa electric India will launch its first electric scooter in the country on August 15, 2021. Specifications and variant details of the EV will be revealed on the same day. Interested buyers can pre-book the scooter online by paying a token amount of Rs 499 (fully refundable on cancellation). It is expected to be introduced in 3 variants – Series S, S1 and S1 Pro. The Ola electric scooter could be called the Ola Series S with two variants – S1 and S1 Pro.
The new scooter will be offered in 10 colour options: 3 Pastel, 3 Metallic and 3 Matte Shades. The Pastel palette has Red, Yellow and Blue colours, Matte shades are Black, Blue and Grey and Metallic paints are Pink, Silver and Gloss. The new scooter is reportedly to be offered a range of 150kms on a single charge. It is capable to achieve 0 to 45kmph in 3.9 seconds with a maximum speed expected around 100-110kmph.
The new Ola electric scooter will have segment-largest boot space, which is good to accommodate two helmets. It will be equipped with digital instrument console, smartphone connectivity, cloud connectivity, alloy wheels, etc. The company is also setting up high-speed OLA hyperchargers across India. It is claimed that the OLA scooter can achieve a range of 75km in 18 minutes charge using hyperchargers.
Simple ONE
Simple Energy has confirmed that its upcoming electric scooter, Simple One will be available for pre-bookings from August 15, 2021. Interested buyers can book the electric scooter by paying a token amount of Rs 1,947, which is fully-refundable on cancellation. The scooter will be launched in phase manner, and will first go on sale in 13 states.
The new Simple One will come with a portable battery pack. It is claimed that the battery pack will weigh over 6kgs. The scooter will feature a 4.8kWh lithium-ion battery, which is claimed to deliver a range of 240km in Eco mode. It will have a top speed of 100kmph, and 0-50kmph acceleration in 3.6 seconds.
The new Simple One electric scooter is expected to be priced around Rs 1.1 lakh to Rs 1.2 lakh. It will get a touchscreen, onboard navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.
