The long-awaited Toyota Urban Cruiser sub-4 meter SUV will officially go on sale in the country tomorrow. The company has started accepting pre-bookings for the new Urban Cruiser compact SUV at a token amount of Rs 11,000. Customers who have pre-booked the SUV will get a Respect Package. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakh – Rs 11 lakh.
The Respect Package will offer ‘a no-cost periodic maintenance’ for up to two years or 20,000kms, whichever comes earlier. The Urban Cruiser is basically re-badged Maruti Vitara Brezza. It is also the second product under the Toyota-Suzuki partnership in India, first being the Toyota Glanza that is based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The Toyota Urban Cruiser will be offered in 3 variants – Mid, High and Premium. Powering the Urban Cruiser is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that also powers the Brezza. This engine is capable of producing 103bhp of power at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 138Nm at 4,400rpm. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
The entry-level variant gets Toyota-like front design, steel wheel, LED package, dual-tone interior, dark brown fabric seats, automatic AC, smart entry with engine push start/stop button, a 7-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth/USB/AUX in audio with remote control, steering mounted audio control, etc. This variant is available in 6 monotone colours – Suave Silver, Sunny White, Spunky Blue, Rustic Brown, Iconic Grey and Groovy Orange.
The mid-variant gets alloys, dark brown fabric seats with honeycomb pattern, new 7-inch Smart Playcast touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, smartphone based navigation, and multi-functional steering wheel and cruise control.
The top-spec variant gets diamond-cut alloys, front LED fog lamps, auto rain sensing wipers, automatic day/night IRVM, etc. This model is available in 3 monotone and 3 dual-tone exterior colour options – Sunny White, Suave Silver, Iconic Grey, Rustic Brown with Sizzling Black Roof, Groovy Orange with Sunny White Roof, and Spunky Roof with Sizzling Black Roof.
