Toyota Urban Cruiser, which is essentially Maruti Vitara Brezza, scored better points than its donor car. While Maruti’s subcompact SUV (pre-facelift) scored 12.51 for adult protection and 17.73 points for child protection, the Urban Cruiser gets 13.25 points and 36.68 points respectively. Launched in September 2020, Toyota Urban Cruiser is ready to receive a significant update in coming months. Reports suggest new Urban Cruiser will come after the second-generation Brezza that’s slated to launch in May 2022.

Comprehensive changes will be made inside the cabin. The new 2022 Toyota Urban Cruiser is likely to come with a newly-designed dashboard, a bigger touchscreen infotainment system (developed by Suzuki and Toyota) with wireless smartphone connectivity, navigation and voice recognition. The automaker might also offer a SIM based connected car suite, wireless charging system, automatic AC unit, sunroof, paddle shifters, a 360 degree camera, a new semi-digital instrument cluster and more.

No changes will be made to its powertrain. The new 2022 Toyota Urban Cruiser will come with the same 1.5L petrol engine that’s good enough for 104bhp and 138Nm. Similar to the new-gen Brezza, the updated Urban Cruiser will get a new 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox along with the 5-speed manual transmission unit.
