Official bookings of the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser subcompact will be commenced on coming 22nd August across the nation. Buyers will be able to pre-book the model online and at their nearest Toyota dealership by paying an initial sum of Rs 11,000. Its official prices are likely to be announced in September, 2020. Based on Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Urban Cruiser has witnessed minor cosmetic and feature upgrades that differentiate both the models. The carmaker has confirmed that the Toyota Urban Cruiser will come with a 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine that’s borrowed from the Vitara Brezza. The gasoline motor returns a claimed power of 105bhp and a peak torque of 138Nm. Similar to its Maruti Suzuki’s counterpart, the compact SUV will come with a 5-speed manual (standard) and a 4-speed torque converter automatic (optional) gearbox. All automatic variants will feature Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid system that includes an ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) and an advanced Li-ion battery.
The front fascia of the new Toyota compact SUV looks quite different from the Vitara Brezza. The model gets a twin-slat wedge cut dynamic grille with chrome and a trapezoidal bold fog area. The dual chamber LED projector headlamps with dual function LED DRL cum indicators and LED fog lamps further mark distinction to its portfolio. The dual-tone dark brown interior will give a sense of spacious cabin. Some of its key features will include a Smart Playcast touchscreen audio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, smartphone based navigation, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, electrochromic inside rear view mirror and more. Toyota will also offer a warranty of 3 years/100K kms along with extended benefits such as express service of EM60, warranty extension and other convenience services.
