The much-awaited Toyota Innova Hycross will make its India debut on November 25, 2022. Before India, the 3-row MPV will be presented to Indonesian audience on November 21, 2022. The Indonesian-spec model will be called the new Innova Zenix. While India debut is scheduled in November, prices of the new Innova will be revealed at the 2023 Auto Expo in January.
Toyota Innova Hycross – What To Expect?
The new-gen Innova has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. In fact, Toyota Indonesia has already released a teaser of the 3-row MPV. The official teaser reveals that the new Toyota Innova Hycross will share the styling cues from the Avanza MPV on sale in South Asian markets. The teaser reveals the front fascia that has a large and upright hexagonal grille inspired from the Corolla Cross SUV.
The big front grille is flanked by a newly styled wide headlamp setup with two L-shaped inserts. There is a triangular housing on the bumper for fog lamps. Also, visible strong creases on the bonnet. The top-spec models will feature newly styled alloys, a factory-fitted panoramic sunroof and Avanza-inspired tail-lights connected by a chrome bar.
Inside the cabin, the new Innova Hycross will feature a free-standing touchscreen infotainment unit with smartphone connectivity, multi-functional steering wheel, wireless charger, a 360 degree camera and others. In terms of features, the MPV will get multi-colour ambient lighting, electronic parking brake, powered tailgate, captain seats in second-row with Ottoman function, partial soft pad on dashboard and electrically adjustable second-row seats.
The new Toyota Innova Hycross will also receive Toyota Safety Sense, which will offer features like Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist and Automatic High Beam.
New Platform & Engine Options
The new-gen Toyota Innova will be based on an all-new TNGA-C global platform, which is a new, monocoque platform with front wheel drive setup. The existing Innova Crysta is based on ladder-frame chassis & rear-wheel-drive layout. It will have a 2860mm long wheelbase, which is 100mm longer than the current model.
The new Toyota Innova Hycross will be offered with two engine options – a 2.0-litre NA petrol and a 2.0-litre petrol hybrid system. The hybrid powertrain setup will include a petrol engine with an electric motor and an electric battery. The company could use the localised version of the THS II (Toyota Hybrid System II) that consists of a twin-motor setup for high ‘step-off’ torque and fuel efficiency.
