Toyota Urban Cruiser Launch Campaign Kickstarts

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced that its upcoming Urban Cruiser subcompact SUV will have the “Respect” launch campaign theme. The carmaker says that the “theme of respect resonates well with the youth who believe that respect doesn’t come with age but with individual and bold choices.” As per the company, the Toyota Urban Cruiser will target the young aspirational buyers who have earned respect for their bold choices. Toyota has also confirmed that the compact SUV will come during this festive season and its official bookings will begin by the end of August, 2020.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser will be the second rebadged and re-engineered Maruti Suzuki model (Vitara Brezza), following the Toyota Glanza (Baleno hatchback). It will be the entry-level Toyota SUV in the country that will be placed against the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and the upcoming Kia Sonet.

The leaked picture reveals that the upcoming Toyota subcompact SUV will carry Fortuner-inspired front grille. Most of the changes will be made to its fascia including revised bumper, newly-designed fog lamps and air-dam. Styling bits such as headlamps, alloy wheels and taillamps remain unchanged. Interior layout and features might also be exactly similar to the Vitara Brezza. Though, the Urban Cruiser is likely to get brighter shade interior theme and new seat upholstery.

Things will remain same under the skin. Similar to the Maruti Vitara Brezza, the Toyota Urban Cruiser will come with the BS6-compliant 1.5L K15B petrol engine benefited with Suzuki’s mild-hybrid system. The motor pushes out a claimed power of 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. The model lineup will come with two gearbox options – a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. Unlike that Vitara Brezza, the new Toyota compact SUV will get SHVS mild-hybrid technology with both manual and automatic variants.
