Toyota Hilux Lifestyle Pick-Up India Launch Delayed

We reported earlier Toyota will announce the prices of the much-anticipated Hilux lifestyle pick-up will be revealed in March 2022. A new report claims that the Toyota Hilux launch has been delayed. The company had started accepting pre-launch bookings in January 2022; however, the bookings temporarily halted in February.

According to CarDekho India, Toyota said, “We are doing our best to ensure the bookings reopen at the soonest possible opportunity to minimize any impact. Beyond this, we are unable to share any specifics.”

The new Toyota Hilux lifestyle pickup is based on the IMV platform that underpins the Fortuner and the Innova Crysta. The company claims to have achieve close to 30 percent of the localization. It will be assembled at Toyota’s facility in Karnataka. The new model will be offered in two variants – Standard & High.

The new Toyota Hilux lifestyle pickup will be powered by a 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the Fortuner & the Innova Crysta. This engine is capable of producing 204bhp of maximum power and 420Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. With automatic gearbox, the engine offers 500Nm of torque.

It will be offered in both 4×2 and 4×4 system. The 4WD (four-wheel drive) system will come with electronic differential lock. The new Hilux comes with a five-star safety rating by ASEAN NCAP. It offers a water wading capacity of 700mm. In terms of proportions, the new Toyota Hilux is 5,3255mm in length, 1,855mm in width and 1,815mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,085mm. It offers a ground clearance of 216mm.

For safety and security, the new Toyota Hilux pick-up is equipped with active traction control, vehicle stability control, hill assist control, downhill assist control, driver start control, trailer sway control, tyre angle monitor & automatic differential lock, 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, front & rear parking sensors, and reverse camera.
