Toyota has finally launched the CNG version of the Glanza hatchback in the Indian market. The Toyota Glanza CNG is available in two variants – S and G – priced at Rs 8.43 lakh and Rs 9.46 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. Interested buyers can book the new Glanza CNG online or at authorised Toyota dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000. The Glanza is the first model from Toyota to come with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
As a reference, the Toyota Glanza petrol is available in 4 trims – E, S, G and V. Compared to its petrol-derivatives, the Glanza CNG costs Rs 95,000 more. Toyota has also confirmed that its newly launched Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV will also receive a factory-fitted CNG kit. It is most likely to share the powertrain with the Ertiga CNG.
The Toyota Glanza CNG is powered by the same 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that powers the standard Glanza and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. In petrol-only mode, the engine produces 90bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. In the CNG mode, the power and torque output drops to 77bhp and 98.5Nm respectively. This is the same powertrain offered with the Baleno CNG. It is only available with the 5-speed manual gearbox. It is claimed to offer a certified fuel economy of 30.61km/kg.
The Toyota Glanza comes fitted with the 55-litre CNG tank in the boot, which significantly drops the luggage carrying capacity when compared to its petrol-powered version. The hatchback looks largely identical to the regular ICE model, except for the CNG badging on the tailgate. The hatchback continues to be offered with dual-tone interior scheme. The top-spec Glanza CNG G trim comes fitted with features like LED projector headlamps, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, connected car tech with Over-The-Air updates, start/stop button, six airbags, ABS with EBD and others. It rides on 16-inch alloy wheels.
