Toyota Hyryder CNG Bookings Open; Launch, Mileage, Features

Japanese automaker, Toyota has officially announced to soon launch the CNG version of the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV in the country. The company has also launched the new Glanza CNG at a starting price of Rs 8.43 lakh. The Toyota Hyryder CNG will be the first CNG-powered model in the midsize SUV segment.

The new Toyota Hyryder CNG can be booked online or at authorised dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000. It will soon be the first model in the segment to be offered in 3 powertrain options including a 1.5L NA petrol with a mild hybrid tech, a 1.5L petrol with strong hybrid tech and a CNG version. The CNG kit will be offered with the Toyota Hyryder’s Maruti-sourced 1.5-litre K15C, 4-cylinder engine. This powertrain currently powers the Ertiga and the XL6 CNG.

Toyota has not officially revealed the power and torque figures of the Hyryder CNG. In the CNG mode, the powertrain produces 88bhp and 121.5Nm, whereas in the petrol mode it produces 101bhp and 137Nm of torque. Toyota has confirmed that the Hyryder CNG will be offered with the 5-speed manual gearbox. It is claimed to offer a certified fuel economy of 26.10km/kg. As a reference, the XL6 CNG MPV is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 26.32km/kg.

Japanese automaker has confirmed that the Hyryder CNG will be offered on the mid-spec S and G trims of the standard SUV. The G trim comes equipped with features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, connected car tech, full-LED headlamp, ambient interior lighting, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP and others. This variant rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Hyryder CNG will be the most premium CNG model on sale in our market. Similar to the Hyryder, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will also come with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Moreover, the Hyryder will be the most fuel efficient SUV thanks to the CNG and strong hybrid powertrain.
