Toyota Fortuner Legender To Get 201bhp Diesel Engine: MG Gloster Rival

Japanese automaker, Toyota will introduce the much-awaited Fortuner facelift in the Indian market in the first quarter of 2021, most probably in January. Adding to it, the company will also bring the new Fortuner Legender variant with significant design changes, upgraded interior and more powerful engine.

The Toyota Fortuner Legender will also mark the debut of more powerful version of the 2.8-litre diesel engine. This engine is capable of producing 201bhp of power and 500Nm of torque. This is around 27bhp more powerful and 50Nm torquier than the current 2.8L engine. The torque is available at 1,600rpm, and the curve remains flat until 2,800rpm.

The regular Fortuner is likely to retain the BSVI compliant 2.8L engine that offers 174bhp and 450Nm of torque (420Nm with Manual Gearbox). Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The petrol version will continue to feature the BSVI compliant 2.7L engine that offers 164bhp and 245Nm of torque.

Exterior & Interior

In terms of styling changes, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner Legender gets new LED headlamps with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps). There is a black eye-brow-like treatment on the top of the new lamp, which connects well with the slimmer grille. It gets new bumper that has bigger air-dam with blackened treatment for mesh pattern, and silver skid plate, and new LED fog lamps. It also gets Lexus-like sequential turn signal on the lower side of the bumper.

The Fortuner Legender also features newly designed 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The SUV has still footsteps, chrome line under the window, and blackened treatment for ORVMs, pillars and roof. The rear profile has new tail-lights with LED bar, new bumper, roof-integrated spoiler and shark fin antenna.

Inside the cabin, the Fortuner Legender gets a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The regular model gets an 8-inch unit.
