Toyota Corolla Cross SUV Might Launch In India – Report

We informed you earlier that Toyota is planning to launch a wide range of new global SUVs in our market. The company is reportedly launching the hybrid version of the RAV4 SUV in India in 2021. A new media report suggests that the Toyota’s latest mid-sized SUV, the Corolla Cross is also under consideration for our market.

Not just Corolla Cross, Toyota is also expected to introduce Hilux Pick-up in our market. Testing of the Fortuner facelift has already been started in India. The Toyota Fortuner facelift is likely to be launched in the country before the end of this year, most probably around Diwali. It is reported that Toyota is likely to expand its India portfolio to up to 16 models by 2023.

Toyota is also developing an all-new mid-sized SUV in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki. This mid-sized SUV will directly rival the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. Moreover, the duo is also developing an all-new C-segment MPV. The new C-MPV will be positioned between the Maruti Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta.

Toyota Corolla Cross White

The Toyota Corolla Cross is a direct rival to the Jeep Compass, Honda HR-V and the Hyundai Tucson. It is based on the TNGA C (Toyota New Generation Architecture C) platform that also underpins the new-gen Corolla sedan and the C-HR crossover. It measures 4,460mm in length, 1,825mm in width and 1,623mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,640mm. The Corolla Cross is available with 2 engine options – a 1.8-litre 2ZR-FBE petrol and a petrol-electric hybrid.

The cabin of the new Toyota Corolla Cross is shared with the new Corolla sedan and the C-HR crossover. In terms of features, the SUV gets 7-inch MID, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay support, power back door with activated kick sensor, power adjustable driver seat, dual-zone climate control, rear seats with 6 degree recline option, rear seat armrest with cup holders, etc.
