The long-awaited new-gen Hyundai i20 will be launched in our market during festive season, Diwali. It is expected that the hatchback will be launched in October 2020, while bookings are expected to open in September 2020. The hatchback is already on sale in Germany.
New Design
The new i20 comes with all-new exterior styling, which is sharper, sleeker and sportier than the outgoing model. There are sharp edges and creases all around the body, while the strong belt-line on the side profile gives it a sporty look.
Upfront is a massive cascading grille, which is flanked by stylish headlamps with LED daytime running lamps. It gets sculpted bonnet with strong character lines and prominent fog lamp housing. Other design highlights including blacked-out wing mirrors, shark-fin antenna, chrome window-line, wrap-around LED tail-lamps with a connected light strip and black treatment on the tailgate.
Feature-Loaded Interior
The cabin of the new Hyundai i20 shares several components with the new Venue compact SUV. However, it gets a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The hatchback also gets Hyundai BlueLink connected car technology.
Some of the high-end features include air purifier with virus protection, digital instrument console, Bose premium sound system, automatic air-conditioning, multi-functional steering wheel, cruise control, etc. The company could also offer the sunroof with the i20 hatchback.
Engine & Gearbox
The new-gen 2020 Hyundai i20 will be offered with 3 engine options – a 118bhp/172Nm, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol, a 99bhp/215Nm, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel and a 82bhp/113Nm, 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol. Similar to the Venue, the new Hyundai i20’s 1.0L turbo-end will get iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) and a 7-speed DCT automatic option. Other gearbox options are likely to include a 6-speed manual (1.5L Diesel & 1.0L Turbo-petrol) and a 5-speed manual (1.2L NA petrol). The company could also offer a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox with new i20 diesel.
