Toyota Innova HyCross MPV is all set to make its world debut in November 2022. It might witness a market launch in India in early 2023 (possibly in January). It’s surely one of the much-awaited upcoming new MPVs in India. The MPV will underpin the lightweight monocoque platform ditching the existing ladder-frame architecture. In fact, it will feature the FWD (front-wheel drive) system instead of RWD (rear-wheel drive) setup. The new hybrid Innova measures 4.7 meters in length and has a wheelbase of 2890mm. In reports are to be believed, the Japanese automaker is considering a C-segment MPV for the Indian market. The new Toyota MPV might be based on the FWD (front-wheel drive) platform. Similar to the Innova HyCross, it could be made available with the hybrid powertrain. When launched, it will challenge cars like Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Kia Carens. Rumour has it that Toyota might bring in its new C-Segment MPV sometime next year.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has already trademarked the Toyota Rumion nameplate that’s likely to be used for the re-badged version of the Maruti Ertiga. The model had been revealed for the South African markets. A few changes have been made to its front end. The Rumion features a newly-designed front grille featuring Toyota’s signature badge. Rest of its design elements and body panels are similar to the Ertiga. Under the hood, the Toyota Rumion houses the same 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine making 103bhp and 138Nm. There is no official word on its India launch. Though, reports suggest that Hyundai India might bring in the Stargazer MPV that has already been launched in Indonesia. For power, the MPV uses a 1.5L MPI petrol engine that delivers a maximum power of 115bhp. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or an IVT (CVT) automatic gearbox. One of the major highlights of the Hyundai Stargazer is the ADAS suite along with features such as a digital instrument cluster, Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car tech, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic AC unit, wireless charging and full LED lighting. The fourth-generation Carnival MPV was unveiled globally in April 2021. While its India launch timeline is yet to be revealed by the carmaker, it’s expected to come sometime next year. Compared to the current model, the new one is bigger measuring 5155mm in length, 1995mm in width and 1775mm in height. In global markets, the MPV is being offered with the 3.5L V6 MPi petrol, new 2.2L Smartstream and 3.5L GDi V6 Smartstrem engine options. In India, the 2023 Kia Carnival is likely to be made available with the 2.2L diesel motor making 200bhp and 440Nm. Transmission duties will be done by an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
