Toyota Innova Hycross Spotted In India – Debut In November 2022

The much-anticipated Toyota Innova Hycross or the next-gen Innova will make its official debut in Indonesia in November 2022. The Indonesian-spec model is reportedly to be called the new Innova Zenix, while the India-spec model is rumoured to be called the Innova Hycross. Ahead of the official debut next month, the new Innova has been spotted testing in India.

The spotted model was heavily covered with thick cloth; however, it shows some interesting details. The new Toyota Innova Hycross comes with newly designed wheels, and newly designed sharper tail-lights. Also visible is a roof-integrated spoiler with high mounted stop lamp, shark fin antenna and an updated rear bumper. It also has newly designed tailgate design, which appears simple.

The latest spy images reveal that the new Innova Hycross will come with adjustable headlamps and a freestanding touchscreen infotainment system. The overall styling of the new Toyota Innova Hycross is inspired by the new Avanza MPV on sale in select international markets. The new model will retain the cab-forward design and will offer more space inside the cabin. The MPV will have an all-new front fascia with LED projector headlamps, LED fog lamps and an all-new front grille with chrome treatment.

If reports are to be believed, the new Innova will come with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) and an electric sunroof. The TSS is Toyota’s ADAS tech with features like automatic emergency brakes, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, road sign assist, dynamic radar cruise control and automatic high beams. It is also reportedly to come with the factory-fitted panoramic sunroof.

The model will be designed on the lighter monocoque platform instead of the ladder-frame architecture. In fact, the RWD (rear-wheel drive) will be replaced with the FWD (front-wheel drive) setup. It will measure around 4.7 meters in length and sit on a 2890mm long wheelbase. It will be offered with two engine options – a 2.0L petrol and a 2.0L petrol with a strong hybrid tech. The vehicle could get the heavily localized version of the THS II (Toyota Hybrid System), which has a twin-motor layout that enhance its high ‘step-off’ torque and fuel efficiency.
