We have reported earlier that Tata Motors is planning to launch CNG variants of its four popular models – Tiago, Tigor, Altroz and Nexon. The Tata Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG, which were spotted testing, are reported to hit roads during 2021 festive season. According to a fresh media report, select Tata dealers have started accepting pre-bookings for the Tiago CNG at an initial sum of Rs 11,000. The token amount is fully refundable. The model is likely to arrive sometime next month and its delivers will start a month later.
Based on the mid-spec XT and XZ trims, the Tata Tiago CNG will use the 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine that’s good enough for 86PS and 113Nm. With the CNG kit, the hatchback’s power figures might drop by 15-20 percent. For performing transmission duties, the model will have a 5-speed manual gearbox. Prices of the Tata Tiago CNG are likely to be around Rs 50,000 – Rs 60,000 higher than its standard counterparts. The XT and XZ petrol-manual variants are currently available at Rs 5.7 lakh and Rs 6.1 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom).
In terms of features, the Tiago CNG XZ variant will have same features to offer, which are available on the standard XZ trim. It includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, voice commands, steering mounted audio and phone controls, height adjustable driver seat, one-touch drown driver window, cooled glove box and more. The XT trim comes with the front and rear power windows, piano black interior inserts and steering wheel, Tata ConnectNext application support and electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators.
Recently, the automaker introduced its first micro SUV in India – Tata Punch. Prices of the mini SUV start from Rs 5.49 lakh and go up to Rs 9.39 lakh. These are introductory, ex-showroom prices. Powering the Punch is a 1.2L petrol engine delivering power worth 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. The motor can be had with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox.
