Tata Safari Pre-Bookings Open: Booking Amount, Launch Date

Tata Motors has officially started taking pre-bookings for the much-awaited new Safari 7-seater SUV. Interested buyers can pre-book the new Tata Safari online or via authorised Tata Motors’s dealerships in the country by paying a token amount of Rs 30,000.

Launch Date

Tata Motors has officially announced that the new Safari will be launched on February 22. The deliveries of the 7-seater SUV will also begin from the same day. The company had reveal the interior, specifications, variants and other details of the new Safari on Republic Day, 2021.

7-Seater Harrier

The new Safari is basically the 7-seater version of the Harrier SUV. It was showcased as the Gravitas SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. Compared to the Harrier, the SUV is 63mm longer, 72mm wider and 80mm taller; however, the wheelbase remains the same at 2,741mm. It measures 4,661mm in length, 1,894mm in width and 1,786mm in height.

The new generation Tata Safari 2021 is offered in 6-and 7-seat layouts. The 6-seater version comes with captain seats for the second row, while the 7-seater Safari comes with a bench-type seat.

Engine Specifications

Powering the new Tata Safari is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the Harrier. This Fiat-sourced engine is capable of producing 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

The new Tata Safari will be offered in 6 variants – XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ and XZ+. It is equipped with an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The SUV also gets connected car features, which are divided in 5 categories – Safety & Security, Remote Commands, Alerts & Notification, Over the Air updates and Health check. The iRA, ConnectNext and What3Words can be downloaded from the App store or the play store free, and will have a validity period of 1 year.

In terms of features, the SUV gets panoramic sunroof, disc brakes for all wheels, ambient lighting, Xenon HID projector headlamps, electronic parking brake with auto hold function, automatic vehicle hold, terrain modes (Normal, Wet & Rough Road), automatic AC, leather seat upholstery and others.

For safety and security, the new Tata Safari gets ABS with EBD, cornering stability control, off-road ABS, traction control, ESC, hill hold control, hill descent control, roll-over mitigation, dynamic wheel torque by brake, EDTC (Engine Drag Torque Control), EBP (Electronic Brake Pre-fill), HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist) and HFC (Hydraulic Fading Compensation).
