2021 KTM RC390 Coming Soon: Top Changes Explained

The current KTM RC 390 was first showcased at the EICMA in 2013. The motorcycle received unprecedented response from buyers, and in order to maintain the pole position KTM is readying the next generation RC390. The 2021 KTM RC390 has been caught testing multiple times, and the latest spy images reveal the production-ready model.

Similar to the existing model, the 2021 KTM RC390 will be developed by KTM in collaboration with Bajaj Auto in India. The motorcycle will be produced on the same production line, which also manufactures the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure.

Design Changes

The spy images reveal that the 2021 KTM RC390 features a newly designed handlebar that should improve ergonomics. The fuel tank looks bigger, which will increase its range. The spotted model also gets a larger single-disc brake system to improve braking power on the front wheel. There is a new TFT color display, which is likely to be sourced from the KTM 390 Adventure.

The rear design has been significantly updated. It gets a completely revised rear frame and bigger seat to offer better seating comfort for the pillion. The motorcycle will come with all-new wheels, while the vertical-shaped tail-light setup will be retained.

The 2021 KTM RC390 will receive the same 373cc single-cylinder engine that also powers the existing model. However, the engine will be upgraded to meet the stricter EU5 emission and noise regulations similar to the Euro 5 KTM 390 Duke. The spotted model has bigger front silencer along with bigger catalytic convertor. This engine is likely to offer the same 44bhp of power and 35Nm of torque.

The rear silencer will be completely different from the one seen in the spotted model. The motorcycle looks better than the outgoing model, thanks to RC8 (KTM’s former supersport flagship RC8) inspired central full-LED main headlight. The fairing is wider for better wind protection.
