Tata Records Massive Sales Growth This Fiscal; Big Launches Planned

In June 2021, Tata Motors managed to sell 24,110 units of passenger vehicles over the 11,419 units of the same month last year. It recorded a sales growth of 111%. The total domestic sales of the carmaker stood at 43,704 units against 19,387 units of June 2020, registering a growth of 125%.

The company also revealed that the it retailed a total of 1,14,784 vehicles in the domestic and global market in Q1, FY22. It’s 353% higher than the Q1 FY21 sales figures (2,773 units). In the commercial vehicle segment, the home-grown carmaker retailed 22,100 units as opposed to 8,824 units of June 2020, accounting a change of 150%.

Tata Safari is the only big launch from the home-grown carmaker this year so far. In coming weeks, the company will introduce the sportier Tata Nexon Dark edition and Tata Altroz Dark edition with both petrol and diesel engine options. After these special editions, the carmaker will bring in the Tata HBX concept based micro SUV to challenge the Maruti Ignis, Mahindra KUV100 and the upcoming Hyundai AX1 mini SUV. If reports are to be believed, its final version will be named – Tata Timero. It’s expected to arrive by October 2021.

The upcoming Tata mini SUV will share most of its design elements with the Harrier (especially the front end). It will carry split headlamps with LED DRLs integrated into the upper grille, tri-arrow lower grille, front bumper with integrated fog lamp assembly and wider air intakes and LED taillamps. The spy images confirm that the micro SUV will offer a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering, semi-digital instrument console and a floating touchscreen infotainment system.

Tata Altroz Specifications

Recently, the company revealed its plan to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with 10 new vehicles by 2025. As of now, it’s exploring partnerships in cell and battery manufacturing in India and Europe.
