Mahindra Registered Robust Sales In Rural & Urban Market

Mahindra & Mahindra’s total sales for June 2021 stood at 16913, which is 109% more than the corresponding month last year when it registered sales of 8075 units. The carmaker sold 16636 units of utility vehicles and 277 units of cars and vans against 7958 units and 117 units of the same month last year respectively. In fact, the company recorded an exponential growth in this fiscal year. It retailed a total of 43202 passenger vehicles as opposed to 11942 units of Q1, FY21. The home-grown carmaker recorded a growth of 262%. The company’s exports for the month also went up nearly 206% at 2607 units, compared to 853 units that were exported in June 2020. Veejay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., said that the demand in both urban and rural areas is increasing as the market is opening up in a phased manner. Currently, the company’s top priority is to stabilize supply chain of the semiconductor.

In order to strengthen its market, Mahindra will introduce the new XUV700 7-seater SUV, Bolero Neo and new-generation Scorpio. The Mahindra XUV700 will make debut in July, followed by its launch in August or September 2021. It will be the most powerful SUV in its segment that includes MG Hector Plus, newly-launched Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari. Reports suggest that the XUV700 will come with the 200bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol and 185bhp, 2.0L mHawk turbo diesel engine options. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.

The 2021 Mahindra Bolero Neo is reported to launch in the month of September. It’s essentially the facelifed TVU300 with comprehensive cosmetic and feature upgrades. The engine setup, however, will remain unchanged.

The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio will arrive early next year. The SUV will receive noticeable changes in terms of design, features and engine mechanism. It will be offered with the 2.0L mStallion petrol and 2.2L mHawk diesel engines and 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options. The 4WD (four-wheel drive) system will be reserved for the higher trims.
