Tata HBX Small SUV Spied In Production Avatar

Tata Motors is preparing to launch the much-awaited HBX micro SUV, which has already been caught testing several times in India. The Tata HBX has been spotted in production avatar, which comes equipped with alloy wheels and production-spec lighting system.

The spotted model has not been covered in camouflaging material, which reveals the front profile of the SUV in production guise. The SUV’s front design is inspired by Tata Harrier, featuring split headlamp setup with sleek LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) on top and main headlamp unit lower on the bumper. The sleek LED DRLs are well integrated into the upper grille.

There is a chrome underlining for the upper front grille and DRLs, while the lower grille has inverted tri-arrow design on the mesh.  The bumper accommodates fog lamps and wider air-intakes. There is a black plastic cladding that runs across the width of the micro SUV. The bumpers are not painted in body colour.

The production ready Tata HBX gets blacked out pillar, and floating roofline. The roof has not been painted in body colour; however, the small SUV will also receive contrasting shades as well. The SUV was earlier caught with a contrasting white roof. The small SUV will also get machine-cut alloy wheels, LED tail-lights, rear door handles on C-pillars, a roof-integrated spoiler with brake lights, ORVMs with integrated blinkers and others.

Tata HBX Steering

The production version of the Tata HBX will remain true to its concept. The concept measures 3,840mm in length, 1822mm in width and 1635mm in height with a wheelbase of 2450mm. In fact, the cabin will retain the original design and features. It will get a floating touchscreen infotainment system, a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, black fabric seats, Harman audio system. semi-digital instrument console, ambient lighting, a multi-functional steering wheel, ABS with EBD, cornering stability control, parking sensors, etc.

The entry-level SUV will receive the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine that also powers the Tiago and the Altroz. This engine produces 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. It could also receive the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with power close to 100bhp. Transmission choices are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.
