Tata Punch To Get 2 New Rivals From Maruti & Hyundai

Tata Punch is the second top-selling SUV from the home-grown automaker in the country. In order to challenge its dominance in the micro SUV segment, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai will bring in their new models in coming months. While the Maruti Fronx compact crossover will go on sale in April, the new Hyundai micro SUV is reported to arrive towards the end of 2023 or early 2024. Here’re some key details of the upcoming Tata Punch rivalling SUVs.

The Fronx model lineup will be made available in five trims, namely, Sigma, Delta, Delta +, Zeta and Alpha. Buyers will get two engine options – a new 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol Boosterjet and a 1.2L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol. The former makes a top power of 100bhp with 147.6Nm and the latter delivers 90bhp with 113Nm. The new Maruti compact SUV will be available with three gearbox options – a 5-speed manual, a 5-speed AMT and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. In terms of features, the Maruti Fronx offers a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, 6-speaker sound system, leather wrapped steering wheel, HUD, 360 degree camera, leather wrapped steering wheel, etc. More details here…

Hyundai’s upcoming micro SUV (codenamed Ai3) will be the smallest and most affordable SUV from the South Korean automaker in India. It will be bigger than the Hyundai Casper that’s already retailed in South Korean market. The overall length, width and height of the Casper stand at 3595mm, 1595mm and 1575mm-1605mm respectively. Engine specifications of the upcoming Hyundai mini SUV are still under the warps. Though, it’s likely to come with the 1.0L naturally aspirated and 1.0L turbo petrol engines that’s available on the Casper. While the former returns power worth 76bhp with 95Nm, the latter delivers 100bhp with 172Nm. More details here…
