Tata Punch Gets Altroz-Like 90 Degree Opening Doors; New Images Out

Tata Motors will officially reveal the much-awaited Tata Punch sub-compact SUV on October 4, 2021. The new small SUV will be positioned below the Nexon compact SUV. Tata has already released multiple teaser videos, which shows the styling and interior of the Punch. A new set of images have hit the web world that reveals some interesting details about the affordable SUV.

The spotted model appears to be the higher-end variant, fitted with some high-end variants. It is finished in a bronze colour with a contrasting black roof. The spotted model has diamond-cut alloy wheels, rear washer & wiper, and signature Tata grille with Harrier-like split headlamp setup. In fact, the front profile looks like a compact version of the Harrier’s front.

The Tata Punch is based on the same ALFA ARC platform, which also underpins the Altroz hatchback. The subcompact SUV will also source several features and design elements from the sibling hatchback. One such feature is the wide 90-degree opening doors, which we have already seen on the Altroz. The wide opening doors will make ingress and egress easy.

Interior images show that the Tata Punch gets a semi-gital 7-inch instrument console, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push start/stop button, a multi-functional steering wheel, etc. This model also gets segment-first cruise control and drive modes.

Design highlights include black plastic cladding, big front bumper, split headlamp setup with LED DRLs on top and main headlamps on lower bumper, and LED tail-lamps in a tri-arrow shape. The micro SUV rides on 16-inch alloys; however, the lower-spec models are expected to feature 15-inch steel wheels with covers.

Tata dealers have started accepting pre-orders for the new Punch at a token amount of Rs 5,000 to Rs 21,000, which is refundable on cancellation. The Tata Punch is likely to come in two engine options – a a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.2L turbocharged petrol. The naturally-aspirated engine is capable of producing 86bhp of power and 115Nm of torque. Transmission choices are likely to include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.
