Tata Motors is all set to launch the special Red Dark Editions of its three popular SUVs – Nexon, Harrier and Safari. All three models are expected to go on sale sometime next month (i.e. March 2023). While the Tata Harrier Red Dark Edition and Safari Red Dark Edition made their public appearance at this year’s Auto Expo, the Tata Nexon Red Dark Edition will be shown for the first time. The former models were painted in ‘Oberon Black’ paint scheme and have sporty red insert on the front grille, red brake calipers and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Tata Harrier Red Dark and Safari Red Dark Editions feature ‘Carnelian’ red seat upholstery with a quilted pattern. The grey trim on the dashboard, steering wheel with piano black inserts and red leatherette grab handles further enhance its sporty feel and appeal. The same Red and Black treatment is likely to be offered on the Tata Nexon Red Dark Edition.
Interestingly, the showcased models of the Harrier and Safari were packed with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) tech. The suite offers features such as lane assist, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision alert and traffic sign recognition. Both SUVs also get a bigger and updated 10.25-inch infotainment system, a new digital instrument cluster, 360 degree camera, ambient lighting and adjustable driver’s seat with memory function. The Safari Red Dark Edition additionally comes with the powered front passenger seat with ‘Boss’ mode and a ventilation function for the second row.
The Tata Harrier Red Dark Edition and Safari Red Dark Edition will employ the same 170PS, 2.0L turbo diesel engine under the hood. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. The Tata Nexon Red Dark Edition could be offered with the 1.2L turbo petrol (120PS/170Nm) and 1.5L turbo diesel (115PS/260Nm) engine options. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT transmission.
