Tata Nexon Electric Long-Range Variant Launch Likely By April 2022

Tata Motors is working on a long-range version of the Nexon Electric, which has already been spotted testing. It is reported that the new high-range Tata Nexon electric will be launched by April 2022; however, Tata is yet to make an official announcement on the same. The new model will come with a bigger battery pack along with few mechanical upgrades.

The new variant of the Tata Nexon Electric is reportedly to come with a larger 40kWh battery pack. The outgoing model comes with a 30.2kWh battery pack, and is claimed to offer an ARAI-certified range of 312km. The larger battery pack is expected to deliver a range of over 400km.

The report suggests that the high-range Tata Nexon electric could come with a more powerful charger. It is likely to come with a more powerful 6.6kW AC charger. The current model comes with a 3.3kW AC charger, which took close to 10 hours to fully charge the battery. The new 6.6kW AC charger is likely to come as an optional.

Tata Motors will make some changes to the Nexon Electric’s floor pan to accommodate a larger battery pack. To accommodate a larger battery, Tata Nexon EV’s boot space will also be compromised. The new model is likely to get disc brakes for all four wheels. Due to larger battery pack, the SUV would become heavier. The new model could offer multiple modes that improves the intensity of regenerative braking, ESP and newly designed alloy wheels.

The high-range version of the Tata Nexon EV will be sold alongside the regular model. It is expected to be priced around Rs 17 lakh-18 lakh, which is about Rs 3 lakh to Rs 4 lakh premium over the current model. This variant will come as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Hyundai Kona EV and the MG ZS EV.
