Kia Seltos, India’s second top-selling mid-size SUV, is ready to receive its first mid-life update by mid 2022. The facelifted model will witness a few significant changes inside and out. According to a fresh media report, the global-spec 2022 Kia Seltos facelift will come with the petrol-hybrid powertrain will be borrowed from the Kia Niro. It will be equipped with a 1.6L petrol engine coupled to a parallel-hybrid system delivering a combined power of 137bhp at 5,700rpm and 264Nm at 4,000rpm.
The hybrid system includes a 1.56kWh lithium-ion battery transmitting power to an AC electric motor that’s good for 42bhp and 170Nm. Interestingly, the new Kia Seltos petrol-hybrid is likely to replace the existing 1.5L, 4-cylinder diesel engine making 113bhp and 250Nm. As of now, there is no clarity whether the India-spec 2022 Kia Seltos facelift will receive the petrol hybrid powertrain or not.
The higher trims of the updated Seltos are reported to receive a panoramic sunroof, while the mid-spec variants will continue to come with the single-pane electric unit. Rumour has it that the SUV might also be offered with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). However, it could be reserved for the range-topping variants.
The list of features might also include an updated UVO connected car tech, a new full digital instrument console, new seat upholstery and new colour options. On the exterior, the new 2022 Kia Seltos facelift will feature a newly-designed front grille, larger air-dam, revised headlamps, newly-designed alloy wheels, updated rear bumper and new taillamps.
