Tata Motors Group has announced that its global wholesales in Q2 FY22 is 24% higher compared to the Q2, FY21. The Group including Jaguard Land Rover sold 2,51,689 units globally in Q2 financial year 2022.
Global wholesales of all Tata Motors’ commercial vehicles and Tata Daewoo range in Q2 FY22 were at 89,055 nos., higher by 57%, over Q2 FY21. Global wholesales of all passenger vehicles in Q2 FY22 were at 1,62,634 nos., higher by 11% as compared to Q2 FY21.
Global wholesales for Jaguar Land Rover were 78,251 vehicles (**JLR number for Q2 FY22 includes CJLR volumes of 14,219 units). Jaguar wholesales for the quarter were 13,944 vehicles, while Land Rover wholesales for the quarter were 64,307 vehicles.
Tata Motors is constantly gaining more space in the passenger vehicle category, as the sales have been increasing consistently over the period of last couple of years. It manages to beat the likes of the Mahindra and Kia to secure third place in the list of top-selling car manufacturers in India.
Tata Motors new breed of cars including the Tiago, Nexon, Altroz, Harrier and the Safari are posting positive sales. The company hopes to increase the sales with the launch of the new Punch subcompact SUV. Scheduled to be launched on the October 2021, the Tata Punch will be positioned below the Nexon and will rival the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Maruti Ignis and other B-segment hatchbacks.
The Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 85bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. It is likely to be priced around Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8.3 lakh.
