Tata Punch micro SUV is all set to launch on October 20, 2021. Official bookings for the model have been commenced at an initial sum of Rs 21,000. The micro SUV is now on display at Tata’s dealerships across the country. Interested buyers can take a test drive of the vehicle at their nearest Tata showroom. With the Punch, the home-grown automaker aims to increase its UV market share around 10 percent by the end of this fiscal year.
The new Tata mini SUV will take directly on the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100. In terms of pricing, however, it will compete against multiple cars right from Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios to Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. The Punch prices are likely to start around Rs 5 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 8 lakh for the fully-loaded variant. The automaker has already confirmed that the Punch model lineup will come in four trims – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative.
Under the hood, the Tata Punch mini SUV employs a 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine delivering power worth 85bhp. The petrol unit can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT unit. One must note that the entry-level Pure trim misses out on the AMT gearbox. Its overall length, width and height stand at 3827mm, 1742mm and 1615mm respectively. The mini SUV sits on 2445mm long wheelbase and has a ground clearance of 187mm. The Punch is capable to wade through 370mm of water.
The Tata Punch comes with a host of features including a floating 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, connected car tech, automatic AC unit, push button start/stop, cruise control, auto headlamps and many more. Its AMT variants are exclusively offered with a Traction Pro mode. The small SUV’s safety kit includes dual front airbags, Isofix child seat anchors and ABS with EBD.
