Tata, Mahindra – First Car Launch In 2024

Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra, two titans of indigenous automobile manufacturing, are ready to welcome the new year with the launch of the Punch EV electric micro SUV and the revamped XUV300/XUV400, respectively.

Tata’s much-anticipated Punch electric is slated to grace showrooms in either January or February, although the official launch date remains undisclosed. Positioned to rival the Citroen eC3, this micro EV is expected to be available in two trims: MR (Medium Range) and LR (Long Range). Powering the Punch EV will be a permanent magnet synchronous motor complemented by a liquid-cooled battery, residing on Tata’s Gen 2 EV platform, a modified iteration of the Alpha architecture.

Remarkably, the Tata Punch EV claims the spotlight as the brand’s pioneer model with a front-mounted charging socket, setting a unique precedent in the industry. Distinguishing itself further, it will be the first vehicle in its segment to boast a sunroof. The higher trim levels will be adorned with exclusive features such as a cutting-edge 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a two-spoke steering wheel, an electronic parking brake, a circular display-integrated gear selector dial, LED headlamps, and rear disc brakes.

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated 2024 Mahindra XUV300 facelift is slated for a February release, bringing forth a plethora of upgrades that solidify its competitive edge. Notable enhancements include a panoramic sunroof and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology, elevating its status among rivals. The subcompact SUV will also embrace new features like ventilated front seats, a 360° surround-view camera, and wireless phone charging.

While maintaining its existing dimensions, the revamped XUV300 draws inspiration for its design elements from Mahindra’s upcoming BE range of electric SUVs. Under the hood, no changes are in store, as the XUV300 facelift continues to be powered by the 110PS, 1.2L turbo petrol MPI and the 130PS, 1.2L turbo petrol GDI engines. Transmission choices will include the reliable 6-speed MT and the seamless 6-speed AMT.
