Tata Motors is readying the turbocharged version of the Altroz premium hatchback, which has already been spotted testing. The new model is rumoured to be launched during festive season. Ahead of the official launch, the technical specifications of the Tata Altroz turbo version have been leaked online.
The report claims that the Tata Altroz Turbo version will be powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 108bhp of power at 5,500rpm and a peak torque of 140Nm at 1,500-5,500rpm. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Tata Altroz Turbo version could also receive a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The existing model is equipped with a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that is good for 85bhp and 113Nm of torque. The diesel version gets a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power output of 89bhp and 200Nm of torque.
The Altroz Turbo variant is expected to be offered in a new Blue colour, which was not available in the existing model. In fact, the Altroz turbo was caught testing in the new Blue colour. The new model will come with smoked tail-lamps and a blackened rear treatment with the ‘ALTROZ’ lettering. Compared to the regular naturally-aspirated petrol variants, the new Tata Altroz Turbo petrol will be priced slightly premium. The new engine is expected to be offered on the top-end variant of the hatchback.
The new powerful version of the Altroz hatchback will take on the likes of the Volkswagen Polo TSI and the upcoming new-generation Hyundai i20. Adding to it, the homegrown automaker is also readying the Dark edition of the hatchback.
