109bhp, Tata Altroz Turbo-Petrol Coming Soon

Tata Motors is ready to launch the more powerful petrol variant of the Altroz premium hatchback in coming weeks. Ahead of its arrival, the engine details of the new model have been emerged on the web. As per the leaked data, the Tata Altroz turbo petrol will come with a 1.2L turbocharged petrol motor that’s tuned for generating power output of 110PS (109bhp). This makes it around 27PS and 8PS more powerful than the standard and pre-production model (previewed at the Geneva Motor Show) respectively.

The new Tata Altroz turbo petrol will be as powerful as the Volkswagen Polo TSI. The upcoming new-generation Hyundai i20, however, will be more powerful than the Altroz’s new petrol variant. The new i20 is likely to share the 120PS, 1.0L turbo petrol engine with the Hyundai Venue. Reports suggest that Tata might offer a dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with the Altroz turbo petrol at a later stage.

Tata Altroz Specifications

The new turbo-petrol engine is likely to be offered on the top-end trim of the premium hatchback. The model might also receive a new Blue colour scheme, while the entire design and features will remain unchanged. Compared to the regular naturally-aspirated petrol variants, the new Altroz turbo-petrol will be priced slightly premium.

Recently, the carmaker reduced prices of the Tata Altroz diesel by Rs 40,000. Now, prices of the diesel variants start from Rs 6.99 lakh (for the entry-level XE) and go up to Rs 8.95 lakh (for the top-end XZ (O)). All prices are ex-showroom. In coming months, Tata Altroz model lineup will receive new Camo and Dark editions. As of now, details of the special editions are scanty. Though, the Altroz Dark edition is likely to feature with sporty black design bits along with black paint scheme as we have seen in the Harrier Dark Edition.
