Mercedes-Benz EQC India Launch On 8th October, 2020

Mercedes-Benz is ready to launch its first all-electric luxury SUV in the Indian market on 8th October, 2020. Called the Mercedes-Benz EQC, the model will be available in a single EQC 400 variant that’s expected to be priced around Rs 1.25 crore (ex-showroom). The electric SUV will be produced at the carmaker’s Bremen plant in Germany and will be brought here via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. It won’t have any direct rival in the country. Though, Audi’s upcoming e-Tron will take head-to-head against the Mercedes-Benz’s new electric SUV.

Based on the modified GLC platform, the Mercedes Benz EQC features two electric motors generating a combined power of 402bhp and 765Nm of torque. Both electric motors are placed at the front and rear axles. It has an 80kWh lithium-ion battery offering a range of 450km – 471km (NEDC cycle) on a single charge. Mercedes-Benz’s new electric SUV is capable to do 0 to 100kmph in just 5.1 seconds. It can attain a top speed of 180kmph. The EQC comes with AWD (all-wheel-drive) system and offers five driving modes.

The new Mercedes-Benz electric SUV can be charged in three ways – a 7.4 kW home electrical connection, 7.4 kW AC wall-box, and a 110 kW DC fast charger. Its battery pack can be fully charged in 21 hours using the standard power socket. While the AC wall-box charger takes 10 hours to charge the battery, the DC fast charger can do in 90 minutes only. Buyers can avail DC fast charging facility at all Mercedes-Benz’s major dealerships. The German carmaker will provide physical house visits to check wall box installation and dedicated EQ experts’ services along with an 8 year battery cover. Some of its key features include a large, multi-slat grille with a U-shaped chrome surround, LED headlamps and LED DRLs, large alloy wheels, wraparound LED taillamps connected via an LED strip, a dual 12.3-inch screens, MBUX infotainment system with Mercedes connected car features, a multi-functional steering wheel and a signature centre console with the trackpad.
