Tata Motors showcased the electric iteration of the Altroz premium hatchback at this year’s Auto Expo. The electric hatchback was first unveiled alongside the ICE (internal combustion engine) Altroz at the last year’s Geneva Motor Show. The Tata Altroz EV is one of the four all electric models that the company has planned to launch in the next one year in the country. Here’re the top 5 important facts about the Altroz electric hatchback.
1. Electric Powertrain
Powering the Altroz EV is likely to be the same electric powertrain that does duty in the Nexon EV. Though, its battery capacity and power figures might be different. The Nexon EV uses an IP67 certified 30.2kWh battery pack with a permanent magnet AC motor.
2. Range 250-300km
The Tata Altroz EV’s battery pack is likely to deliver a range between 250km – 300km. Its battery might take 60 minutes to get charged up to 80% with DC fast charging and 8 hours to get fully charged with a regular power socket. Check Out – Tata Sierra SUV Off-Road Model Looks Rugged
3. Tata ZConnect app
The carmaker might equip the Altroz electric with its new ZConnect app as we have seen in the Nexon EV. The application offers 35 connected car features including some dedicated EV features such as charging history, remote monitoring of the current battery charge levels, range, nearest charging stations, chare levels and more.
4. Slightly Different Styling
Compared to the regular Altroz, its electric version will look slightly different. The EV will feature newly-designed alloy wheels with blue highlights, revised bumpers, blacked-out tailgate section and repositioned badges. Similarly, the interior will have blue highlights along with lighter upholstery and a rotary gear selector.
Prices of the Tata Altroz EV are reported to below Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Official launch date its yet to be announced. Though, it’s likely to hit roads by the end of this year or early next year.
