Tata Motors will launch the much-awaited new Altroz DCT automatic in the country on March 21, 2022. Interested buyers can pre-book the automatic Altroz online or at authorised Tata dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000.
It was speculated that the DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission) will be offered with the 1.2L turbo variant of the Altroz. However, this variant will prove to be an expensive for the price sensitive Indian market. A new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox will be offered on the 1.2L 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This engine churns out 86bhp of power and 113Nm of torque with manual gearbox. The powertrain with DCT is likely to produce similar power and torque.
It is reported that the Altroz DCT automatic will come in 3 trims – XT, XZ and XZ+. The hatchback will be offered in 5 colours including a new Opera Blue paint. Other colour options are Arcade Grey, Downtown Red, Harbour Blue and Avenue White.
The Altroz hatchback is also available with the 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines. While the former is good for 110bhp and 140Nm, the diesel engine produces 90PS and 200Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox driving the power to front wheels come as standard.
Tata Motors will also offer the Dark Editions of the Altroz DCT automatic. Moreover, the company will add a bigger and more modern touchscreen infotainment system in the higher variants. The current unit comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The Altroz automatic will be around Rs 1 lakh expensive than the regular manual version. The hatchback is currently available in the price bracket of Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.69 lakh, while the iTurbo version is priced between Rs 8.1 lakh and Rs 9.4 lakh. It will rival the likes of the Hyundai i20 DCT, Honda Jazz CVT, Maruti Baleno AMT & the Toyota Glanza AMT.
