Tata Motors has constantly increasing its sales in the passenger vehicle segments, thanks to its new breed of cars. The Nexon is currently one of the best selling sub-4 meter SUVs, while the Tata Tiago is also achieving a constant sales of over 6,000 per month. Tata Motors’ premium hatchback, the Altroz has also received an excellent response from buyers.
In April sales, Tata Altroz has managed to beat the new generation Hyundai i20 hatchback. Last month, Hyundai i20 sales were significantly higher than the Altroz. This could be the result of the COVID-19 pandemic; however, the sales of Altroz have been constantly rising since its launch in January 2020.
Tata Motors sold 6,649 units of the Altroz hatchback in April 2021, while Hyundai delivered 5,002 units of the new-gen i20 hatchback. In March 2021, Hyundai i20 sales numbers were 9,045 units. The Altroz sales numbers were 7,550 units in March 2021. While the i20 sales declined by 45%, the Altroz sales reported a decline of 11.93%.
Maruti Suzuki is still the number 1 choice in the premium hatchback segment. MSIL sold 16,384 units of the Baleno hatchback in April 2021, which also recorded a decline of 22.78%. The company sold 21,217 Balenos in March 2021.
Tata Motors April Sales
Tata Motors posted a domestic sales of 39,530 units in April 2021 as against 66,609 units during the previous month of March 2021 with a MoM de-growth of 41%. Tata Motors registered 25,095 units in passenger vehicle category in April as against 29,654 units in March 2021. The company recorded a MoM decline of 15%. It is still the third largest car manufacturer in the country.
