Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Kia – Car Sales April 2021

After a fast recovery, Indian auto industry is again facing the impact of COVID-19 pandemic. Most parts of the country are under lockdown, and car sales are expected to be impacted heavily in the next few days. In April, auto manufacturers record a marginal decline compared to the sales in March 2021.

2021 Maruti Celerio Launch Date

Maruti Suzuki India Limited recorded a cumulative sales of 1,59,691 units in April 2021. The total sales comprise of 1,37,151 units, Toyota’s delivery stood at 5,303 units and 17,237 units were exported.

In the entry level or mini car segment (Alto & S-Presso Vehicles), Maruti Suzuki sold 25,041 units last month. In the compact passenger vehicle segment – Swift, WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire and Dzire Tour S – reported wholesales of 72,318 units. Maruti Suzuki sold 1,567 units of the Ciaz in April 2021. Maruti Suzuki sold 25,484 units in the UV segment, which reported a growth of 15.65%. The company also sold 11,468 units of the Eeco and 1,272 units of the Super Carry LCV.

Hyundai

Hyundai Motor India Limited has announced total sales of 59,203 units in the month of April 2021. The domestic sales stood at 49,002 units. The company exported 10,201 units last month. In the domestic market, the company recorded a MoM de-growth of 6.84 units, as it sold 52,600 units in March 2021.

COVID-19 has also impacted the sales of Tata Motors, which has been receiving an excellent response from buyers in the past 3-4 months. Tata Motors posted a domestic sales of 39,530 units in April 2021 as against 66,609 units during the previous month of March 2021 with a MoM de-growth of 41%.

Tata Motors registered 25,095 units in passenger vehicle category in April as against 29,654 units in March 2021. The company recorded a MoM decline of 15%. It is still the third largest car manufacturer in the country.

Kia Motors

2021 Kia Sonet Launch

Kia India dispatched a total of 16,111 units in the month of April 2021. The company sold 8,086 units of Seltos SUV and 7,724 units of the Sonet SUV in April 2021. Hyundai also dispatched 301 units of the Carnival premium MPV. Kia Motors has also become the fastest brand to achieve 2.5 lakh sales milestone in India. The company achieved this feat in just 22 months. In the past 22 months, Kia sold around 1.8 lakh units of the Seltos and over 70,000 units of the Sonet.
