Japanese automaker, Suzuki is reportedly planning to launch a wide range of new models in India as well as in global markets. The brand’s plans for the European markets have been revealed online. The report claims that Suzuki will introduce next-gen S-Cross, Swift, Vitara and Jimny with hybrid powertrains.
The report also claims that Suzuki’s first pure electric car will debut in 2023. It will be an A-segment small car with a crossover design. The new model will be a 2WD drive, and will offer high range on a single charge. It is also reported that Suzuki is developing a fully-electric B-segment SUV with 4WD drive. The new B-segment electric SUV will be introduced as early as 2024. It will be marketed as a compact all-wheel-drive vehicle with high range.
The report also stated that the next generation Suzuki Swift will be launched in 2023. Adding to it, the S-Cross crossover will receive a generation change in January 2022. The new S-Cross will come with a new mild hybrid system. It will be powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a new starter generator, which serves as an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery.
The crossover’s mild hybrid system will have 48-volt, which will allow electric motor to provide more support for the gasoline engine. Adding to it, the new system will bring back more energy when braking. The Suzuki S-Cross will also receive an all-wheel-drive full hybrid system, which will feature a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor.
It is also reported that Suzuki will introduce the next-gen Vitara SUV in 2024. It will come with plug-in hybrid drive (PHEV), which will allow Vitara to drive purely on electric. Suzuki will introduce the Long Wheelbase version of the Jimny off-roader in 2022. Adding to it, the company will introduce a comprehensively revised Jimny in 2024.
